The Chairman of the Oyo State Board for Technical and Vocational Education (BOTAVED), Honourable Elder Ayoade Adekola, has praised the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), Oluyole Branch, for donating hand tools to students of Government Technical College, Orita-Aperin, Ibadan.
The commendation was contained in a press release issued by BOTAVED in August 2026. Elder Adekola described the donation as a laudable act of magnanimity aimed at supporting technical education and empowering students with practical learning tools.
According to the statement, the chairman spoke shortly after a Career Talk Programme jointly organized by the Nigeria Society of Engineers (Oluyole Branch) and BOTAVED in Ibadan.
Elder Adekola applauded the team of engineers for providing tools worth thousands of naira for the students, noting that the gesture would enhance practical training and improve the quality of technical education in the state.
He urged other professional bodies, associations, and societal groups to emulate the NSE by making meaningful contributions to educational development within their communities.
During the event, the President of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, Oluyole Branch, Engineer Adeoye Adedeji, delivered a lecture to commemorate the Annual Celebration of National Engineering Week. The lecture was themed “Your Future Skills that Matter Beyond Your Technology Careers.”
Engineer Adedeji emphasized the importance of employability skills, advising students to develop good interpersonal relationships, networking abilities, effective time management, personal growth, consistency, and the courage to avoid peer pressure, negative relationships, and other distractions that could hinder their success.
He stressed that graduation should not be seen as the finish line but as the starting point for building successful careers, relationships, and personal achievements.
During the formal presentation of the tools to the school principal, Mr. Taofeek Babalola, the NSE president commended the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde for its commitment to the growth of education and technical development in Oyo State.
He explained that the donation formed part of the society’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts to complement government initiatives aimed at sustaining technical education and strengthening the scientific and technological sector.
In his remarks, the Principal of Government Technical College, Orita-Aperin, Mr. Taofeek Babalola, expressed appreciation on behalf of the state government, teachers, and students.
He described the donation as an uncommon philanthropic gesture that would not only improve teaching and learning but also enhance the pedagogical and practical skills of both teachers and students.
