NPF Extends Tinted Glass Permit Enforcement Deadline to October 2, 2025
The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has approved a further extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement for vehicles with tinted windows. The new enforcement date is now set for October 2, 2025.
The decision, according to the Force Headquarters, follows a significant increase in applications through the official portal, indicating a rise in public compliance with the directive. The extension aims to allow adequate time for thorough scrutiny of applications to ensure permits are issued only to qualified individuals, in line with national security considerations.
The Nigeria Police Force stated that the extended period would also be used to further fine-tune both digital and physical verification processes, safeguarding the integrity of the permit system and preventing abuse.
Citizens are reminded that the only authorized platform for permit applications remains https://possap.gov.ng and are advised to disregard any unofficial channels. The public is also urged to report any cases of extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorized processing to the appropriate Police authorities, including via the dedicated hotline: 08147818871.
The Force expressed appreciation for the cooperation of Nigerians and reiterated its commitment to balancing public convenience with effective security measures for the safety of all.
This announcement was signed by DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, from Force Headquarters, Abuja, on August 11, 2025.
