The Agugu Compound in Ibadan, both home and abroad, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin I).

In a condolence message signed by the Media Assistant to Mogaji Dr. Bamidele Popoola, Idowu Awopeju, Esq., the people of Agugu, represented by their Mogaji, extended heartfelt sympathies to the immediate and extended families of the late monarch, as well as the entire Ibadanland.

According to reports, Oba Olakulehin passed on in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025, just two days after marking his 90th birthday on July 5.

Oba Olakulehin was officially installed as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland on July 12, 2024, when he received the staff of office from the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde.

“Immortality is the inevitable fate of all mortals—either now or later,” the statement reflected soberly. It concluded with prayers for the eternal repose of the monarch and for strength and comfort for the people of Ibadan during this time of mourning.
