As Nigeria celebrates its annual Democracy Day, Hon. Abdulmajeed Adekola Igbalajobi, Leader of the House at the Ibadan North East Legislative Council, has extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of Oyo State and Nigerians at large.
In his Democracy Day message, Hon. Igbalajobi commended His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for what he described as “visionary leadership, people-oriented policies, and unwavering commitment to democratic governance” in Oyo State.
“Governor Makinde has continued to raise the bar of good governance. His administration’s investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and youth empowerment have set Oyo on a path of sustainable growth,” he said.
The grassroots lawmaker lauded the resilience of Nigerians and the progress made since the country returned to democratic rule, calling on citizens to protect and nurture the democratic ideals that form the bedrock of national unity.
He emphasized the importance of local governance in deepening democracy, pledging that the Ibadan North East Legislative Council, under his leadership, remains committed to policies that directly benefit the people.
“As representatives of the people at the grassroots, it is our duty to echo their voices, address their needs, and ensure that democracy is not just felt at the top, but lived at the community level,” Hon. Igbalajobi stated.
He called on citizens, particularly the youth, to be active participants in the democratic process and support leaders who prioritize service, integrity, and inclusiveness.
As the state joins the nation in celebrating June 12, Hon. Igbalajobi urged residents to reflect on the sacrifices made by past heroes of democracy and work together to preserve peace, unity, and progress.
